How I Feel About New Year’s Resolutions

I’m all for new year’s resolutions, don’t get me wrong! However, I also fail my resolutions…every single year. In my head, I make tons of fantastic life-changing resolutions, and then January hits with no progress made. And then February, same story. I might try them out in March, but then I get bored and lazy, and depressed that it’s still winter. And then April hits, and I’ve completely given up, thinking: I’ll just try again next year. This happens every year.

Yes, I’ve done the research. I know why people fail at their new year’s resolutions. I know why I fail, but regardless of this knowledge, when I’m mothering, house-keeping, errand-running, working, etc, I run out of hours in the day to focus on me.

This year, I’m changing things up. Instead of making new year’s resolutions, I’ve created a list of 10 reminders for myself. I’m not asking myself to change anything about my lifestyle, rather I’m giving myself grace in the form of gentle reminders. The next step will be finding a place to display my reminders so that they don’t get lost in the hustle and bustle of life. I’m thinking, the fridge. Or I might take a picture of them and use it as my phone wallpaper, considering the average person picks up their phone 58 times per day. Yikes.

So here they are - my top 10 goals for the new year. Chrys has also created a beautiful template to display your own top 10 reminders. It’s free! Download it below.

Create your own list using the template below!

Also, we’ve made a cool research resource all about new year’s resolutions for your students or kids! It also includes a Top 10 Reminders for the New Year page! It'll be free until January 10th, so grab it now!
